Egg Freezing

more-about-egg-freezing

The decision to freeze your eggs is a personal, important decision – and selecting a proven center and program is crucial to your success.

With many women now delaying pregnancy until their late thirties and early forties, the more and more fertility doctors are visited by patients who no longer have eggs that will produce a pregnancy. Unfortunately, many of these patients have no idea that egg freezing even exists.

But it does, and it’s an incredible breakthrough in reproductive science. Thanks to egg freezing, women can now take control of their fertility!

Together, our Arizona Egg Freezing Program and comprehensive egg freezing website are focused on one goal: educating and empowering you to call the shots on your future fertility.

PAUSE THE BIOLOGICAL CLOCK

Female fertility begins to decline in the late 20’s and the continued loss of eggs associated with this decline results in increased rates of miscarriage, chromosome (genetic) abnormalities, and infertility (especially for women over the age of 35 years). Egg freezing affords a woman the opportunity to use “younger” eggs that retain their inherent quality, thereby avoiding the decreased fertility and increased miscarriage rates associated with advanced age.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER EGG FREEZING?

  • Women between the ages of 25 and 37 years old
  • Women with educational or career goals
  • Women not in a suitable relationship right now
  • Women who just aren’t ready to have children
  • Women with a family history of early menopause
  • Women facing medical treatments like chemotherapy
  • Women wishing to delay the timing of having another child

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO FREEZE YOUR EGGS?

The earlier you freeze your eggs, the better your chance of a successful pregnancy – no matter when you decide to use the eggs.

  • The optimum time for egg freezing is between ages 25 and 37, when you have the highest ovarian reserve
  • As you age your ovaries age and the number of usable eggs that you have declines.
  • Your uterus remains healthy and able to support pregnancy until about age 50.
  • You lock in your chance of a successful future pregnancy at the age your eggs are retrieved; if you freeze your eggs at age 28 and use them at 39, your success rate is that of a 28-year old
  • Egg freezing after age 37 is still an option, but you might need multiple IVF cycles to get the recommended number of  eggs

WOMEN WITH CANCER & CHRONIC ILLNESS

When a young woman is diagnosed with cancer, she is faced with the prospect of undergoing treatment regimens (i.e. chemotherapy, etc.) that might accelerate egg loss and impact her ability to conceive and deliver a child.

Our Arizona Egg Freezing Program and team will assist patients as they navigate their way through fertility options that are tailored to their individual needs. All treatment decisions are made with close communication and coordination with your oncologist. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision regarding your reproductive future before, during, and after the completion of cancer therapies.
