IVF With Donor Eggs

Donor Egg IVF is the most successful fertility treatment available for individuals and couples who wish to build a family. It is done in conjunction with IVF (in vitro fertilization) and makes it possible for women who have poor-quality eggs or too few eggs to realize their dream of conceiving a child.

The Egg Donor Program at Boston IVF – The Arizona Center is one of the most premier egg donation programs in the United States. Our fertility experts will help you understand the entire donor egg process from start to finish and answer any questions you may have along the way.

HOW SUCCESSFUL IS DONOR EGG IVF?

One of the main benefits of donor egg IVF is its high success rate, which is much better than traditional IVF procedures. Much of the success is due to the use of young, healthy eggs retrieved from an egg donor. Donors undergo rigorous medical, social, genetic, and psychological screening before they are accepted, ensuring you receive the best quality of eggs possible.

HOW DO I SELECT AN EGG DONOR?

The first step of the donor egg IVF process is to choose an egg donor. We work with several renowned, national donor agencies that recruit young women and maintain a pool of qualified and healthy donors. We will work closely with you to help locate a reputable agency and egg donor that meets your needs.

TYPES OF EGG DONORS

  • Anonymous Egg Donors
National donor agencies maintain a pool of qualified and healthy egg donors. The identities of these donors are kept anonymous.
  • Known Egg Donors
A known egg donor can be a friend or relative who chooses to donate their eggs to you.
  • Frozen Donor Egg Banks
Boston IVF is partners with Donor Egg Bank USA, an agency that offers our patients the option of choosing eggs that have been previously retrieved and frozen from pre-screened donors. The process provides immediate access to donors and eliminates the need for synchronization of the donor and recipient’s menstrual cycles.

FRESH DONOR EGGS VS. FROZEN DONOR EGGS? WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Recent improvements in the freezing and thawing process have brought success rates with frozen eggs close to those of fresh donor eggs. However, there are other factors to consider:

1EXPECTATIONS: Frozen eggs, via reputable egg banks, guarantee quality embryos to transfer within a certain number of cycles. Fresh donor eggs generally yield multiple embryos, with the potential to preserve those not used.

2TIMING: By using frozen eggs, you are immediately matched with a donor, and an IVF cycle can begin within 1 month. Using fresh eggs, you may wait 6+ months for a donor to be selected, screened, and ready for egg harvesting.
3SCHEDULING: Your in-vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle needs to be synchronized with the fresh donor eggs. Frozen eggs can be readied according to your cycle alone. They alleviate the risk for mistimed donor and recipient cycles.
4AVAILABILITY: Fresh egg donors are not always available. Frozen donor eggs can be withdrawn from an egg bank whenever you are ready. They also give you the certainty that your cycle will not be cancelled due to a donor’s failed screening or unexpected life event.

5COST: Frozen donor eggs offer considerable savings over fresh donor eggs. The total cost of a frozen donor cycle at Boston IVF – The Arizona Center is significantly less expensive than the cost of a traditional donor cycle at any other fertility clinic in Arizona.
